McMurray Client
“Working with Juanita isn't really work at all! She takes you by the hand and guides you. Decisions and shopping even became fun because Juanita has a way about her that is contagious. She is a lovely person inside and out and I was blessed to have her help! Thank you!" — Marla Marry

Dining Room
(Pictured Above)
This project started with one room. A dated dining room with an entire wall of 70’s style mirrors. Country décor and very formal curtains that did not reflect the style of this young family. We removed the mirrors, updated the paint color, and purchased a beautiful buffet from Napa Style which set the tone for the room. We refinished the hardwood floors darkening the stain and added a beautiful area rug from Ballard Designs. We used the existing dining room table from Restoration Hardware, flipping the top over as the original top was damaged from an attempt to seal it. We kept only two of the dining room chairs to tone down the country feel and replaced the other four with fabric chairs from Pier One. We pulled in a distressed cream hutch from the kitchen, created extra seating in the small space with a custom window seat and antique bench in the corner of the room. Because privacy was not an issue, we eliminated window treatments completely and hung wrought iron shutters on either side of the window. We hung shelves from Pottery Barn for wine bottles and finished things off with new lighting, art, mirror and accessories.
"The dining room was rarely used and had very dated mirrors and curtains. It is now one of my favorite rooms because it fits our family. It is formal enough to be a dining room but has a softness that makes you just want to hang out in there.”

The next room the client asked me to tackle was the den (right off the main entry) which was rarely used and contained a small desk and piano. However, when I saw her living room it appeared that there really wasn’t enough furniture in the space to accommodate their entire family comfortably. I suggested putting the money into the living room (which is right off the kitchen) and moving some of the furniture from the living room into the den to create a second living area. The client asked me to keep the existing paint colors in both rooms.
In the den we only had to purchase new coffee and end tables (Pier One & Target), lamps, clock, artwork above the piano and a few accessories like the Pottery Barn pillows. All other art and accessories were pulled from various spots in the house.
In the living room the hardwood floors were refinished and new tile was selected to update the fireplace. New sofa from Macy’s Furniture, chair from Levin, side tables from Napa Style, nesting tables from Pottery Barn, curtains, pillows and lamps. We flipped the area rugs between the two rooms and most accessories belonged to the owner, but were restyled to refresh and update the space.
Living Room & Den
“The living room and den were a complete surprise because we flipped the furniture from the living room into the den. It works so much better and now I have a huge, comfy couch to curl up on with my husband and kids. The bonus was that the den is now used and I sneak in to my favorite reading spot as often as I can. We use all of our rooms now which I can't believe we waited so long to do and they are all comfortable and practical. We love them!”

“Our powder room was so outdated and plain. It is now so classy and modern but still fits into the overall theme of our house.”

Along with refinishing the hardwood floors throughout the entire first floor, we also replaced all of the white tile with a beautiful, dark ceramic flooring. An updated paint color, cabinet (Fairmont), sink, faucet and toilet were easy changes to modernize the space. A metallic mirror brings out the brushed silver in the pulls and faucet finished the space along with artwork we brought in from another room in the house.
